Conversation with Johann Sebastian Bach

I just started practicing JS Bach’s cello suite: prelude (arranged for viola). 2 measures palang ang nappractice ko at nahihirapan na ako, sa next post ko na ieexplain kung bakit. feeling ko habang nagppratice ako, bumangon si Bach sa hukay at sinabihan ako ng “blasphemy!!!” nababoy ko ata yung composition niya sa attempt ko tugtugin na walang slurs, mali mali ang intonations, etc. may love-hate relationship kami ngayon ni Bach. o well. . . alam ko naman na sa huli mahal ko pa rin ang kanyang musika.

Wife of noble character—Priceless

Kapag may gusto kang bilhin na ubod ng mahal hindi ba’t ito ay pinag-iipunan mo? nagtatrabaho ka ng extra hours para kumita ng masmalaki, yung iba nagbebenta ng laman—Pampangga’s best tocino para malaki daw ang return of investment (kala mo kung ano na no? malisyosong pag-iisip!). >_<

Sa larangan naman ng sports, para makuha mo ang gold medal nagttrain ka ng maigi, nagpapaka-Rocky Balboa ang style ng iyong training, kumakain ng “healthy” food, at pagkatapos ng iyong training parang gusto mo nang sumuka ng piano sa pagod.

Ganun din sa pag-ibig (naks! Ito na). sabi nga ni Balagtas, “o pag-ibig sa puso ninoman, hahamakin ang lahat masunod ka lamang” (wushus!). Meron akong kaibigan na nakapangasawa ng isang Turkey (hindi yung pabo), at kinuwento nya sa akin kung ano ang tradition ng mga Turks bago nila ligawan ang isang babae. Dapat (uulitin ko) DAPAT bago manligaw ang lalaking sa babae, may bahay na ito ng kanyang sarili, may kotse, livestock at trabaho. Hindi papayag ang magulang ng babae kapag kulang ang mga requirements. Pwera pa dun, magbibigay pa ng limpak-limpak na salapi ang lalaki sa pamilya ng babae at mga jewelries at damit sa babae. Kahit nagmamahalan sila kung hindi ito kayang ibigay ng lalaki sorry nalang sya. *insert heart broken emoticon here*

Meron pa akong isang storya, pinsan naman ng kaibigan ko, nung gabing magpopropose na yung lalaki sa babae bago ibigay ang singsing may pinarada itong BMW sa harap ng babae, lumuhod, at sinabi na mahal na mahal daw nya ang kanyang irog kaya ibibigay nya ang BMW, ang ibig sabihin daw nito ay Be My Wife, sabay nilabas ang singsing. Syempre alam na natin ang sagot ng babae.

Isang araw meron akong nabasang Plurk ng kaibigan kong si King, sabi nya na kailangan nya na daw ipagpray ang kanya Proverbs 31:10 wife, let’s look at the verse:

“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.”

Ayus! Pwede! At kapag tinapos nyo yung chapter makikila niyo ng husto ang mapamosong si “Wife of noble character”. Ang tawag ko sa kanya, babaeng walang pahinga. Hehe!

Madaming husbands at soon to be husbands ang may gusto na siya ay makamit. Sino nga ba naman ang hindi diba? Pero ang tanong, anung ma-ooffer mo kapag nakita mo na siya? Ang mga examples na nabanggit ko nung una ay maliit percentage lang ng maibibigay mo sa iyong wife (of noble character), anung ibig kong sabihin dun? Hindi lang financial stability ang ibibigay at ipapangako mo sa kanya: kasama (syempre) ang walang hanggang pag-ibig, loyalty, trust, protection, leadership, at madami pang iba (as in).

Discouraged? Wag naman sana, pero I encourage you men, if you want to have the best, you also have to be the BEST. Imagine the wife of noble character marrying a sloth! Or someone who gives in to pornography! Or someone who can’t protect her???!!! Graaa~ 0_o

Give her the reward she has earned . . .   Proverbs 31:31

Sa atin naman mga ladies, sana maging role model natin si Wife of noble character. Alam kong nakakapagod mga activities niya at parang wala syang tulog, ngunit subalit dadapwa’t sa tingin ko alam lang niya kung paano mag-manage ng kanyang oras at dahil dun alam din niya kung paano mag-enjoy, “. . . she can laugh at the days to come.” (sabi sa verse 25). Let us ask God in prayer that He would develop in us the character that this woman have. HUKARABA!

With that in mind, ladies, please let us not give our pearls to the pigs. We are precious princesses and we, like what I said before, deserve the BEST. Kapag inabutan tayo ng pathetic looking roses na binili lang sa tabi-tabi at inabutan ng letter, worse text message, wag natin isusuko ang Bataan!!!! >_< (sumasakit baby bangs kooo!)

*Ahem*

The Wife of noble character deserves more than what this world can offer—she is priceless.

Mr. Darcy, the King, and I

Mr. Darcy: I am not at all happy to announce that I will rest from the orchestra this year. Which means Mr. Darcy and I will not anymore have long commutes from Quezon City to Parañaque* (at least for this year).

 

The King: My goal is that in everything I do I want to Honor my God, even in my health. I love music, God knows that, but the long commutes every Saturday has taken a big toll on my health, I am actually sick this very moment.

God has given me the gift of music and he can take it away if He wants to. I do believe that more than playing my instrument I should be able to take care of my self first, in this way I can Honor God more.

 

Anatotski: stop typing and get some rest!

 

*The travel from Tandang Sora, Quezon City to Sucat, Parañaque takes about 2 hours. I ride the MRT, bus, jeepney and yes, even tricycles carrying Mr. Darcy.

Para sa aking kaarawan

Septyembre na naman—buwan ng aking kaarawan, yahoo! May karapatan akong gumawa ng wishlist. Hehehe! Pero habang nagmumunimuni wala akong maisip na ilagay sa listahan ko. Hala! Sayang ang pagkakataon, minsan lang ito sa buong taon! Kaya ayun pinilit ko ang aking sarili na gumawa (take note pinilit).

Dahil wala akong maisip na gusto ko talagang matanggap sa aking kaarawan medyo iibahin ko ang aking listahan.

 

1) Moolah, cash, datung, money

Kung hindi pa klaro sa inyo ito ewan ko nalang. Tulad ng dati humiling din ako ng cash sa akin birthday para sa mga bagay bagay na nais kong bilhin, pero ibahin natin ngayon taon na ito. Meron akong pinag-iipunan, hindi para sa akin sarili kundi para sa short term missions. Sabi nga sa Romans 10:14-15:

14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”

 

2) New friends

Hindi ko kinakahiyang sabihin na konti lang talaga ang aking mga kaibigan. Konti nga lang sila pero sila ang mga taong mapagkakatiwalaan ko ng aking buhay. Tinuturing ko rin sila tulad ng aking kapamilya. Ngayon na masaya ako sa piling nila bakit pa akong humihiling na madagdagan sila? Kasi gusto ko pang lawakan ang aking circle of friends, bakit ba?

 

3) Shoessssssssssssss

Aanhin ko ang madaming sapatos? May lahi ba akong centipede? Gusto ko ba talunin si Imelda? Ang sagot: nagpaplano ako ng isang shoes drive para sa buwan ng Disyembre. Nag-uupisa na ako magplano para mag-ipon ng mga sapatos na ipamimigay sa mga taong hindi maka-afford bumili ng disenteng pares ng sapatos. Kaya kung meron kayong shoessssssss na nakaimbak lang sa bahay, matino pa at hindi ninyo madalas ginagamit, let me know. Meron isang tao na matutuwang gamitin yan.

 

4) Boyfriend

Haha! Wala lang, masaya lang isipin ang mga bagay na ito paminsan-minsan (lalo na kapag birthday). Hehe.

 

So yun lang ang aking mga mumunting kahilingan, pero kung gusto ninyo talaga akong bigyan ng regalo meron lang akong mga konting hiling:

1) Music stand

2) Dinner with my close friends sa victory QC bago ako lumipat sa Pioneer

3) Book na “Getting things done” ni David Allen

4) Kahit anong children’s book

 

Yun lang, maligayang kaarawan sa akin. ^_^

 

  current mood: humahappy birthday.

While we’re still young

I am running out of time and I’m not getting any younger as the day passes by, this September I’ll be a year older. Graah~

 

I’ve been reading this book lately “Do hard things” by Alex and Brett Harris. They are twins in their teen years that made an impact in a lot of teenagers’ life (and not just teenagers mind you), they believe that being too young is not an excuse not to do something big but instead use that as an advantage. To know more about them click here. 

 

Knowing my potential is just that start, doing something is the next step. I still consider myself young and I know I have more things to accomplish more than what I can imagine doing. I may not have the skills and connections to speak to millions of people yet but I have to start somewhere.

 

When I was younger someone told me that I am capable of doing things beyond my age, then he quoted 1 Timothy 4:12 to encourage me:

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

I believed that and accepted that promise but I never accepted the challenge, I neglected the “but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity” part. It took me 8 years for those words to sink in my brain (yes, I was that slow). Instead of crying over spilled milk (or wasted time for that matter), I will now start doing hard things. Laziness, complacency and mediocrity days are over for me.

 

Starting this month I will challenge myself, and you, to do something beyond our comfort zone, something we should be doing a long time ago but we’re just too lazy to even move a muscle. But to be honest at first I am a bit hesitant to post this, my human nature of being lazy is kicking and screaming inside and if I’ll do this then I should practice what I preach right? It’ll be a lot easier for me not to. Then it will be ok if I feel like slacking because nobody knows anyway, BUT I’d rather do it than regret this for the rest of my life. By the way if you consider yourself old already do not be discouraged, it’s not too late to do hard things and to make a difference, as long as you’re still breathing you can still do it.

 

Game?

 

Over the coming months I will post an article or two of some practical hard things we can do and if you have something in mind that you want to share to our readers feel free to leave a comment or email me. Just imagine what life would be like if all the people are not lazy and selfish, if we are not satisfied with what’s good enough and actually do things excellently—the world would be such a better place to live in. *sniffle*
